About the Job:
As the Commissioning Engineer, you will be a key contributor in the execution of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, working hands-on from the Pre-Commissioning phase through to Substantial Completion. The role requires on-site presence for over 75% of the time, coordinating technical activities, troubleshooting, and ensuring the smooth operation of cutting-edge energy storage projects.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders (owners, O&M, design, and construction teams) to align on goals and schedules and assist the Commissioning Manager in developing commissioning plans, specifications, checklists, and functional test documentation.
- Review project documents and designs to identify gaps and ensure smooth execution. Analyze Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and reports for critical equipment.
- Lead executional commissioning activities, managing scope, stakeholders, and schedules and Inspect construction work, identifying and resolving technical issues during installation and commissioning.
- Conduct functional testing post-energization for all equipment.
- Diagnose faults/trips, determine root causes, and implement solutions.
- Execute performance and capacity testing, analyze results, and compile comprehensive test reports.
- Coordinate daily with equipment suppliers to track progress and schedule tasks effectively.
- Suggest improvements to commissioning processes based on lessons learned.
- Provide training to O&M personnel for maintaining commissioned systems and implementing continuous commissioning programs.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent practical knowledge.
- 5–10 years of experience in commissioning and/or systems engineering, preferably in energy storage or EPC industries.
- Proven expertise in battery storage systems, medium voltage stations, and related technologies.
- Proficiency in specifying, analyzing, and procuring major equipment (inverters, transformers, switchgear, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems and associated communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience with commissioning and testing of energy storage projects.
- Full driving licence - Availability to travel to project sites, including extended stays (75% on-site).
