About the Job:
As the Development Director, you will be responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial rooftop and ground-mount solar PV projects across the UK.
This is a key leadership role focused on delivering safe, compliant and commercially successful solar installations for a diverse portfolio of clients.
You’ll take full ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, with a hands-on approach to compliance, CDM duties, electrical regulations and project delivery.
- You will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of commercial solar projects, from feasibility an design through to completion and handover.
- Develop and manage detailed project programmes, ensuring alignment with commercial targets and delivery milestones.
- Oversee all compliance matters including CDM 2015, BS 7671, Part P and relevant building and electrical regulations.
- Act as or oversee the Senior Designer under CDM where required, ensuring HSE best practice across all project phases.
- Manage internal project and site teams as well as external contractors across multiple sites, ensuring quality, safety and cost control.
- Review, manage and report on project budgets, forecasts and financial performance throughout the lifecycle.
- Ensure all site works meet required standards for safety, quality and client satisfaction, including milestone and snagging inspections.
- Oversee the creation and review RAMS, method statements, design packs and O&M documentation.
- Work closely with sales, design, and procurement teams to validate technical proposals and support bids.
- Maintain and improve internal delivery processes in line with ISO9001, HSE frameworks, and industry best practices.
About you:
- A proven track record delivery commercial-scale solar PV projects in the UK
- Qualified electrician or electrical background with strong knowledge of 18th edition wiring regulations and Part P.
- NEBOSH-qualified with strong understating of CDM regulations and HSE compliance frameworks.
- PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
- Experienced in managing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors on live construction sites.
- Excellent communicator with confidence in client-facing roles and contractor management
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness, including cost control and supplier negotiations
- Skilled in reading and approving technical drawings, system designs, and electrical schematics.
