About the Job:
As the Senior Applications engineer, you will provide technical expertise to support energy storage solutions. This role is responsible for pre-sales activities related to utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, including system sizing, preliminary design, and value engineering. You will collaborate closely with commercial and engineering teams to develop proposals for new storage project opportunities and offer technical support in response to customer needs. A senior-level position will be considered for candidates with the appropriate experience.
- You’ll be responsible for analyzing customer needs based on RFPs and other documentation, determining project scope, schedule, technical specifications, and risks.
- Develop sizing models and conceptual drawing sets, collaborating with other application engineers as needed.
- Coordinate with the procurement team to obtain quotes and prepare project pricing.
- Prepare comprehensive proposals, including technical and commercial documentation, in collaboration with various departments.
- Assist in negotiating technical and commercial contract terms with customers alongside the commercial team.
- Work closely with business development, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure shared understanding of project priorities.
- Conduct technical and sales presentations, providing necessary clarifications to customers and internal stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales engineering role.
- Direct experience with battery energy storage systems or utility-scale solar.
- Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to interpret engineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
- Solid understanding of regulatory standards in Japan related to energy storage and grid-interactive inverters.
- Experience working in a multinational company and across diverse cultures is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred); a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
